Mughal Art – Mughal Oil Paintings

Mughal art is a particular style that developed during the Mughal empire between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. This empire largely stretched across a region that is now a part of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. This style of art has been generally confined to miniatures either as book illustration or as works that were kept in the albums and emerged from the Ilkhatnae Persian art. This style infact started and caught roots under the Delhi Sultanate during the early 16th century - a period of artistic inventiveness during which a previously formal and abstract style had begun to make way for a more vigorous and human mode of expression.
After the Mughal victory over the Delhi Sultanate in 1526, the tradition of miniature painting in India further abandoned the high abstraction of the Persian style and began to adopt a more realistic style of portraiture and of drawing plants and animals. This school of art that evolved under the Mughals was also influenced by Hindu, Buddhist and Jain cultures  and the Mughal art that we refer to today is an art that is amalgamation form all these influences.  The Persian tradition of richly decorated borders framing the central image was continued into the Mughal times.

An Amorous Evening Mughal Art Oil Paintings

There are four periods commonly associated with Mughal art, each named for the emperor under whom the art form developed: the Akbar Period, the Jahangir Period, the Shah Jahan Period, and the Aurangzeb Period

The Mughal art reached its pinnacle during the days of Shah Jahan. During his rule the splendours like Taj Mahal were built. Mughal paintings were created around love and romance, the portraits and court scenes became the much painted subjects. The court scenes were presented with full grandeur of the Mughal era and depicted the emperor sitting on a high throne, surrounded by courtiers and visitors offering rich presents.

A Royal Romance Mughal Art Oil Paintings

Chic Wall has re-invented Mughal Art using contemporary colours. Its paintings, however, depict the pomp and splendour of the Mughal courts of those times. A keen attention is given to the intricate designs of the full attire, the jewellery ,the curtain blinds and even the floor.

Chic Wall’s Mughal Art Oil Paintings are in fact “love paintings” – the wonderful illustrations of the Mughal era depicting the “royal romance” in the “Mughal Style”. The romance and intimacy between a royal couple in an amorous pose on the terrace surrounded by female attendants is depicted very tastefully in the paintings created at Chic Wall. The grandeur is highlighted by the ornate furnishings, the lush greenery and the intricate designs and motifs providing a visual feast.

Oil Paintings

The Panorama genre offers an artistic exposition of Asian and European landscapes followed by a genre of Golden Temple - its paintings so masterfully capture the serenity and spiritualistic peace of Sikh's holiest shrine. The oil paintings on Golden Temple are indeed spectacular compositions that so authentically capture the reflection of the shrine in the water surrounding it.
